Sugar Cookies

My dad loves cookies. This is one of his favorites. We usually don't ice them because everyone seems to like them better plain. These sugar cookies are also what the kids leave for Santa Claus every year. On Christmas Eve we let them use the Betty Crocker Christmas icing to decorate their special cookies for Santa.

4 c. self-rising flour
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream

Cream shortening. Add sugar and cream well. Add vanilla & eggs. Beat well. Add sour cream & flour. Chill dough at least 1 hour. Roll dough & cut with cookie cutters. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 7-9 minutes at 400 degrees.
