Cube Steak Casserole

I have been making this delicious casserole for years. This dish is loved by everyone in our house. It smells so good while it is baking that you will be drooling to taste it.

Ingredients
4-6 cube steaks
1 packet dry onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 1/2 cans water
1 c. Minute rice (brown or white, I use brown)
flour, salt & pepper

Directions
Mix flour, salt & pepper. Dredge cube steaks through flour. Brown cube steaks on both sides in a skillet of hot oil. Transfer cube steaks to a 9x13 baking dish. Mix soups & water together. Add rice & stir into soup mixture. Pour over cube steaks. Cover with foil & bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

I just made cube steak cassorole from Nikki's blog and it was wonderful. The aroma while it was baking was out of this world. My husband had seconds which he never does. I recommend you go to her blog and try some of these outstanding recipes. Yummy!

I postedthis from my mom.

I made this recipe tonight using venison cube steak rather than beef and it was wonderful. My husband was actually moaning in delight. Thank you so much for such a simple and delicious recipe.

I made this last night. My husband really liked it. It is certainly a manly/hearty meal ;o)

Great idea to use venison - he would have liked that too.

BTW - I did not have pre-cooked rice, (we were in the middle of a snowstorm and going to the store was not an option!) so I made my own. I followed the recipe for making regular rice; cooked it for only half the time and when I added the rice to this recipe, I did not have to increase the liquids at all.

Thanks so much for sharing!

This is was a very flavorful and easy dish to make. 2 lbs of cube steak was enough to cover the bottom of a 9 X1 3 in. baking dish without the meat overlapping. I didn't use the rice. The soup mixture thickened nicely while the meat was in the oven and made a generous amount of yummy gravy. I served the steak and gravy over sour cream mashed potatoes. It reminded me of salbury steak. REALLY good! Thanks for this recipe

I make this recipe at least once a month! The hubby and my 2 year old twin boys all love it! And the best thing ... it's super simple!!

Fabulous! The only changes were based on what I had in the house. I did not have Minute rice and I did not have the dry onion soup. Instead I used Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown Rice and chopped 1/4 cup of yellow onion (cooked with the meat) and added 1/2 jar of beef gravy. Everything else was the same. I served with yellow squash.

I made this tonight. It was really good. I used 1 cup of regular white rice, not minute rice, and it turned out fantastic. Didn't have the onion soup so I just sprinkled in some onion powder.

I use cream of celery soup in place of cream of mushroom. I added celery ribs and tops, also. Thanks :0)

I made this for dinner last night and it was awesome. The only change I made is I used milk instead of water, I also sliced a whole onion on top. Will make it again for sure.

I have been making cube steak the same way since I started cooking (fried with cream gravy and rice or mashed potatoes). It's delicious, but I wanted to try something different. This was a great alternative to the old standby. I did make a few changes; used regular rice, milk instead of water and added mushrooms. It was absolutely wonderful! We ate almost the whole dish! It's going to be a regular in my meal rotation! Thanks for a super easy, yummy dish!

Best cube steak recipe I have ever made. The cube steaks are so tender.

I Love it! As an addition, I cut up a vidalia onion and put it in the casserole to bake - it's GREAT! LOVE IT!

I made this dinner tonight, and oh my, it was delicious! I did change a few things though. I used garlic and pepper with my flour. I also used milk with the soup. I also used ranch dressing mixed with my egg. We didn't have fresh onions, so I used french fried onions on top of the steak, then poured my soup over top. I will definitely be making this again!

This was AMAZING! It isn't often you can cut cube steak with a fork! I used regular rice as opposed to minute or instant and it cooked perfectly. My 5 year old was even able to cut her own meat. :)

This recipe must have called for instant or quick brown rice cuz its almost an hour and my brown rice is no where near cooked.

THIS IS OUR FAVORITE!!! My husband took some of this in for his lunch the next day at work and had numerous people asking him what he was warming up in the microwave!! THE SMELL IS OUT OF THIS WORLD WHEN IT IS COOKING!!
