Chewy Cocoa Brownies

This was the first time I have ever made brownies from scratch. And I will never make brownies from a packaged mix again! They were the best tasting ,most scrumptious brownies. They were crunchy on the outside, but moist & chewy on the inside.

Ingredients
1 2/3 c granulated sugar
3/4 c butter or margarine, melted
2 tbsp water
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/3 c all-purpose flour
3/4 c baking cocoa
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts (we don't like nuts so I left them out)

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9-inch baking pan. Combine sugar, butter & water in large bowl. Stir in eggs & vanilla extract. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder & salt in medium bowl; stir into sugar mixture. Stir in nuts (if using). Spread into prepared baking pan. Bake for 18 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
